Satyam to REACH for the sky In a bid to emerge as the world’s second-largest SAP implementer before the year-end, Satyam Computer Services has decided to tap more ‘white space’ opportunities — providing solutions in areas not addressed by the leading business software provider. It already has four such white-space solutions, for the banking, automotive, telecom and oil & gas sectors. Manish Mehta, director and head, SAP and testing practice at Satyam told DNA Money the company will add at least three more such solutions this year. In one such major initiative, Satyam has tied up with Du Pont to develop a product for regulatory compliance in Subu D Subramaniam, director and head of manufacturing and automotive practice, said, “We will launch the product by June-July in Europe and elsewhere, where companies having dealings with European regulations will have to fall in line and thereby reorient their businesses.” The REACH product is a small investment for Satyam, but promises huge returns as it is the only such solution available in the market today, said Mehta. The advantage is that even SAP helps in marketing the product given its unique positioning and utility, he added. However, Mehta refused to divulge details of the other white-space products planned by the company citing commercial sensitivity. The Forrester Wave report, put out by independent technology research consultancy Forrester Research Inc, ranked Satyam fifth in the leadership quadrant last year, after Accenture, IBM Global Services, Capgemini and Deloitte. Forrester had evaluated 16 leading SAP implementation providers across 108 criteria. |
