Inflation measured by the wholesale price index rose 0.18% in the 12 months to 4 April 2009, below the previous week's annual rise of 0.26%, government data released today, 16 April 2009 showed. The annual inflation rate was 7.71% during the corresponding week of the previous year. Fall in commodity prices and economic slowdown has caused a sustained slide in inflation since peaking at 12.91% in early August 2008. |
