Food inflation soars to 17.5%

India’s Primary article index rose to 12.53% in the week to November 21 from a year earlier, the government said today. Food inflation rose to 12.53% as compared to 11.04% in the previous week and Non-Food articles rose to 2.22% as against 1.92% in the previous week. The index of fuel, Power and Light group was unchanged in the week, it was -1.51% in the week to November 14, 2009. Coal Mining also remained unchanged on a week on week basis. Mineral Oils fell to -0.85% as compared to 3.34% in week to November 14, 2009 and Electricity also stayed unchanged.
