L&T secures order worth Rs 580 c

Engineering and construction group Larsen and Toubro secured orders worth Rs 581 crore from Powergen Infrastructure and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) during the third quarter of 2009-10. These projects will be executed by the metallurgical, material handling and water operating company of L&T’s construction division. The contract from Powergen Infrastructure is for setting up a coal handling plant in Maharashtra. This greenfield project, to be set up in 30 months, was secured against international competitive bidding, said the company in its filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The contract secured from BWSSB will be completed in 24 months, involves laying pipeline from Harohalli to Tataguni and Vajarahalli, along with associated civil work.
