FII selling continues

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 867.50 crore on Friday, 17 October 2008, as against their outflow of Rs 1911.30 crore on Thursday, 16 October 2008.

FII outflow of Rs 867.50 crore on 17 October 2008 was a result of gross purchases Rs 2234.30 crore and gross sales Rs 3101.80 crore. The BSE Sensex lost 606.14 points or 5.73% to 9,975.35 on that day.

FII outflow in October 2008 totaled Rs 10,737 crore (till 17 October 2008). FII outflow reached Rs 47,528.80 crore in calendar 2008, so far, till 17 October 2008.

There are a total of 1539 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
